30823 (2026). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Has the Minister instructed any chief executive not to action the head count reduction targets or baseline savings exercise as part of Budget 2026, and if so, which chief executives?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: In the 18 May 2026 letter to the Minister of Finance, in which we advised that we had directed the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade not to initiate a baseline savings exercise as part of Budget 2026. I would further note that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is not subject to a savings target for the 2026-27 budget year.
