30820 (2025). Hon Peeni Henare to the Minister for Media and Communications: What communication failures occurred, if any, between Defence, the Radio Spectrum Management business unit within MBIE, and local ISPs during and after the HMAS Canberra incident that blocked wireless internet and radio services?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: Radio Spectrum Management officials notified the New Zealand Defence Force of this incident shortly after being made aware and several conversations occurred throughout the day. Contact was also made with affected ISPs. The HMAS Canberra stopped using the frequency once it was made aware of the impact, resolving the issue.
