30804 (2025). Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan to the Minister for Disability Issues: To what extent, if at all, has the disability community been included in discussions around Disability Support Services since the establishment of the taskforce?
Hon Louise Upston: Following its establishment in August 2024, the Disability Support Services (DSS) Taskforce has run two community consultations. In late 2024, the community provided feedback on the issues with DSS, which informed the development of further options consultation on needs assessment and allocation and flexible funding settings. Over 1,500 people gave their feedback via online survey responses and written submissions. In February-April 2025, DSS led consultation with 1,800 people. 1,000 people provided feedback via 45 in person and online workshops, as well as over 600 survey responses, and over 200 written submissions. DSS has also established regular video and written communication channels to keep the community and sector informed of its work. My expectation is that DSS will continue to involve the community in discussion about how disability support services are delivered. I will have more to say on the next phase of work, including decisions resulting from consultation feedback, in coming months.
