30763 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Vocational Education: What is the current timeline for the transition away from Te Pūkenga?

Hon Penny Simmonds: The Education and Training (Vocational Education and Training System) Amendment Bill provides for Workforce Development Councils to be disestablished from 31 December 2025, and Polytechnics and Industry Skills Boards to be established from 1 January 2026. Work-based Learning divisions will transition to Industry Skills Boards on 1 January 2026. Te Pūkenga will be fully disestablished by 31 December 2026, if not before.
