30762 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Vocational Education: What advice, if any, has the Minister received about potential delays in the transition away from Te Pūkenga, by date and title?

Hon Penny Simmonds: Subject to its passage through the House, the Education and Training (Vocational Education and Training System) Amendment Bill will disestablish Te Pūkenga at the close of 31 December 2026, unless it is disestablished earlier by Order in Council. While Cabinet has not yet taken decisions on implementing the new vocational education and training model, and some new entities may take longer than others to transition out of Te Pūkenga, I expect the transition to a new system to be complete during 2026.
