30746 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Vocational Education: Further to the Minister’s response to Written Parliamentary Question 22717, can the Minister outline, listed by function, which functions Industry Skills Boards will deliver that Workforce Development Councils do not perform?

Hon Penny Simmonds: The Education and Training (Vocational Education and Training System) Amendment Bill replaces Workforce Development Council’s current broad Leadership function, set out in section 366(1)(a) of the Education and Training Act 2020, with a Strategic Workforce Analysis and Planning function. This will require Industry Skills Boards to undertake strategic workforce analysis and planning for the specified industries that they cover. Schedule 1 of the above Bill will also provide for Industry Skills Boards to provide training activities pending the transfer of those activities to a tertiary education provider. This function will end on 31 December 2027. Workforce Development Councils do not currently provide training activities.
