30720 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Vocational Education: Further to the Minister’s responses to Written Parliamentary Questions 19542 and 21821, what actions, if any, is the Minister taking to ensure that the number of apprenticeships increases?

Hon Penny Simmonds: Upcoming changes to vocational education and training, including the disestablishment of Te Pūkenga and replacing Workforce Development Councils with Industry Skills Boards, will result in a system that is more responsive to the needs of regions and industries. I am confident this will encourage more employers to take on apprentices and trainees, and result in more support for people in work-based learning to complete their programmes.
