30704 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What has New Zealand's contribution to UNAIDS been by year for the last 10 years, if any?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade that New Zealand has contributed a total of NZ$9.5 million in core funding to the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) over the last ten years. New Zealand provided NZ$1.5 million in 2015/16, followed by NZ$1 million annually in each financial year from 2016/17 through to 2023/24. No core funding contribution was made in 2024/25. New Zealand has also contributed NZ$11.13 million since 1 January 2025, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to support international efforts to address HIV and AIDS, with a strong focus on the Pacific. This includes support for the Fiji Government's HIV Surge Strategy 2024-2027 and HIV Outbreak Response Plan; core duning to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria; targeted HIV testing and counselling services through International Planned Parenthood Federation Member Association in nine Pacific countries; and support for reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health plans in Fiji, Vanuatu and Tonga through the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
