Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Does the Minister agree with the suggestion of the independent arbitration panel on the secondary teachers’ collective agreement that “the establishment of a body in the nature of a standing committee comprised of representatives of the parties with an independent chair. We stress the need to appoint an independent chair to such a body. That person would have responsibility for ensuring that a respectful working environment exists between the parties and that topics raised for consideration by the committee are discussed and actioned in a timely manner”; if so, will she propose this work progresses before bargaining in 2025?

Hon Erica Stanford: I cannot comment without seeing the full context. My focus to date has been on implementing our commitments in the 100-day plan. As the Minister of Education, I will be seeking advice on a range of education matters.
