Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister responsible for Ministerial Services: Is it a requirement for staff employed by Ministerial Services to undergo an interview prior to appointment in a role, if so, did Michael Forbes have an interview ahead of his appointment as Deputy Chief Press Secretary in the Prime Minister’s office?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: Ministerial Services advises that for events-based appointments there is a requirement for an interview which involves representatives from the Ministerial Resourcing team. In the instance of an internal secondment, those interviews can be conducted by representatives from the Minister’s office in consultation with the Ministerial Resourcing team. Any variation to an employment agreement is approved by Ministerial Resourcing.
