30545 (2023). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister of Climate Change: Is the Minister aware of research that shows relying on the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) alone to drive decarbonisation would see petrol prices need to rise by 60 cents a litre, if so, what complementary emissions reductions initiatives, if any, is the Government considering?

Hon Simon Watts: The Government is committed to restoring credibility in the ETS as it remains the Government’s key tool to reduce emissions. New Zealand’s second emissions reduction plan will outline the actions required to put us on track to our 2050 climate change targets.
