30505 (2023). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister for Energy: When he said "Well, this Government will use the emissions trading scheme, which is a critically important tool—and a critically important market-based tool—to help move New Zealand and bend the curve of emissions down," was he aware of the comments of Dr Melanie Craxton of The Treasury who said: "There is significant value in pursuing a dynamic portfolio approach to climate policy with emissions pricing at its core, complemented by a number of additional measures that are supported by robust intervention logic and are designed so as not to substitute for or hinder market signals and mechanisms," if not, why not?
Hon Simeon Brown: Our Coalition Government is committed to a range of measures to reduce emissions. The Emissions Trading Scheme is a key tool for delivering emissions reductions across the economy.
