Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: Further to Written Parliamentary Question 29457 (2026); How many after-hours maritime incidents occurred within the Wellington Police District during the same five-year period, regardless of whether the Wellington Police Maritime Unit was deployed?

Hon Mark Mitchell: In the two-year period 2023 to 2025, there was only one instance of an after-hours deployment where Wellington Police Maritime Unit were required to deploy. I refer the Member to the attached table which shows a breakdown of after-hours maritime incidents recorded in Wellington Police District between 2021 and 2025 (to October), broken down by year. The table includes all maritime incidents regardless of whether the Wellington Police Maritime Unit was deployed. After-hours incidents are defined as incidents accepted between 11.00 pm and 7.59 am.
