30309 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: Did the approximately 650 Hamilton children cited by the Minister relate to contracted emergency housing, non-contracted (Emergency Housing Special Needs Grant) emergency housing, or both?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Ministry of Social Development can advise that there were 516 children in the Hamilton Territorial Local Authority living in emergency housing as at 31 December 2023. Over time, this has decreased to 69 children as at 31 March 2026. This is a count of people in emergency housing, not Contracted Emergency Housing.
