Hon Tama Potaka: The data we have available is published in the six-monthly Homelessness Insights reports. This is provided by the Auckland Council and sourced from six outreach providers. Month-end Count of known unsheltered homeless Sept-24 426 Jan-25 653 May-25 809 Sept-25 940 Jan-26 706 Mar-26 586 Auckland Council conducts a daily rough sleeper wake-up count during its morning compliance walks. The count covers the City Centre Targeted Rate Area, extending from lower Queen Street to Karangahape Road and bounded by the eastern and western motorways. Council has been reporting mid-weekly average counts for this area since December 2025. The weekly averages fluctuate from between 17 to 31 over that period.
