30280 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Social Development and Employment
Written Question
Published date: 26 Jun 2025
30280 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: How, if at all, has the number of staff assigned to work out of the Head Office changed over the past 12 months for each of the Minister’s responsible agencies, if any?
Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development that this question has been interpreted as relating to MSD National Office, which is located at 56 The Terrace, Wellington.
The total amount of staff assigned to work out of National Office has decreased by 55 over the past 12 months. The total as at 31 May 2025 was 2,019, and as at 31 May 2024 was 2,074. The decrease can be attributed to the ending of fixed-term arrangements, natural attrition and change processes, which resulted in redundancy within this period.
Please note, the data relates to active headcount only (those on leave are excluded as they are not on the premises at the specified date).
