30250 (2023). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister for Resources: Does the Minister agree with the executive director of the International Energy Agency that "If governments are serious about the climate crisis, there can be no new investments in oil, gas and coal, from now – from this year," if not, why not and what evidence does he have to support his view?
Hon Shane Jones: Gas is an important transition fuel for maintaining New Zealand’s energy security while we electrify our economy. Dependence on imports erodes our security and increases our emissions. We are acting to avoid that.
