30249 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Police
Written Question
Published date: 24 Jun 2025
30249 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Police: What is the number of staff assigned to work out of the Head Office for each of the Minister’s responsible agencies, if any?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I refer the Member to that attached table, which shows the number of staff assigned (by system location) to the Police National Headquarters by month between June 2024 and May 2025.
Please be aware that the numbers outlined in the attached table consist of a wide range of Police staff, which include public facing, operations support and corporate support staff.
It is important to note that the HR Management Information System requires all active personnel to have a designated home location, even though their duties will often take them elsewhere in the region on any given day.
Police also operates a flexible employment policy, which allows staff – where appropriate - to work from home for part of their weekly rostered hours. The numbers shown in the table also include part-time staff who will not be rostered to work from their assigned base location every day of the week.
For all these reasons, the numbers in the attached table may overstate the number of staff physically working out of the Police National Headquarters.
In regard to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), The SFO has two offices, in Auckland and Wellington. The SFO Director is based in Auckland, where 56 staff are assigned to work from. An additional 20 staff are assigned to work from the Wellington Office.
SFO typically recruits new staff with the option of being based either in the Auckland or Wellington office. The number of staff based in Auckland has not changed significantly in the past 12 months.
This is also my response to Written Parliamentary Question 30252 (2025).
