Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: Does the Associate Minister agree with the Auditor-General's office regarding the Inquiry into the Alternative Provision Model for Ka Ora, Ka Ako (school lunch programme), that "It is important that public organisations... get value for money for New Zealanders"; if so, does he believe that "value for money" is having no measure of food waste in place in early 2025, and waste only being measured once, over 10 days in Term 3, 2025?

Hon David Seymour: I agree that it is important that public organisations get value for money for New Zealanders. I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that the way waste was measured had not changed from the previous iteration of the programme. The programme has, however, saved $360m.
