30183 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Were options of less than a one-year transition period considered by the Minister for businesses to meet internationally recognised safety standards for new corded window coverings once mandatory standards are introduced; if so, why did the Minister decide on one-year?
Cameron Brewer: The costs to suppliers have been considered, including the time needed to ensure their goods comply with one of the mandatory standards. The one-year transition period will be subject to consultation when the exposure draft regulations are published later this year.
