Hon Simon Watts: As Minister of Local Government, I received advice that the mechanisms for identifying irregularities in an election are working as they should. In the case of irregularities in the Papatoetoe local board subdivision election, issues were raised appropriately under the Local Electoral Act 2001 and addressed by the courts.
