Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Does the Minister agree with National MP Chris Bishop when he said “We will build enough state and social houses so that there is no social housing waitlist,” and if so, how many more state houses will have to be built to ensure “there is no social housing waitlist,” as of 27 November 2023?

Hon Chris Bishop: That member often makes thoughtful contributions. The Government is focused on reducing the social housing waitlist, which went from 5,844 to 25,433 under the last Government, when rents rose $180 a week on average.
