30110 (2023). Hon Dr Deborah Russell to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: Does the Minister intend to progress with unwinding ‘The Jobs Tax which targets employees and businesses to subsidise unemployment benefits’ as outlined in the National Party’s ‘Delivering Tax Relief’ document, and if so, what advice, reports, briefings, aide memoires, or any other documents has the Minister, or any member of their Office received during the week of 27 November 2023, on this by title and date?
Hon Louise Upston: The Government has made clear our intention to stop all work on the New Zealand Income Insurance Scheme. This was set out in the Government’s 100 day plan and I have received confirmation from officials that all work has ceased. In the week of 27 November I received the following papers on this issue: • Briefing – Briefing for the incoming Minister for Social Development and Employment – 27 November 2023. • Briefing – [Title withheld as Budget sensitive] – 27 November 2023.
