30072 (2023). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Does the Minister agree with Christopher Luxon’s statement that “we'll continue with big outreach of education. We'll continue with other smoking policies to reduce smoking. That's a good thing. But that has been happening over 30 years and will continue to happen, ” and what actions is his Government taking to ensure the number of people smoking continues to decrease?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: Yes. This Government continues to undertake actions to ensure that the number of people smoking continues to decrease. These actions include stop smoking services, health promotion campaigns and community action along with continued tobacco excise. I look forward to working with relevant Ministers on this issue.
