30054 (2023). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister of Climate Change: Does the Minister agree with ACT’s Energy and Resources spokesperson Simon Court who said: "the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment found it would actually increase global emissions," in relation to the offshore oil and gas exploration ban, if so, what evidence does he have to support that view?

Hon Simon Watts: I agree that gas is an important transition fuel for maintaining New Zealand’s energy security while we electrify our economy and that dependence on imports erodes our security and increases our emissions.
