Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: Has the Minister been briefed on whether the container, in which the cocaine was discovered at Carbine Rd, Mt Wellington on 23 April 2025, was flagged as high-risk based on its origin (Central America) or contents (building materials), and if not, what criteria, if any, failed to identify it?

Hon Casey Costello: The New Zealand Customs Service is not required to brief me on the circumstances surrounding every individual interception of illicit drugs. As such, I was not briefed on the operational details of the individual interception the Member references, including if the container was flagged as high risk or otherwise.
