29941 (2025). Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: What resourcing or capability limitations, if any, have been identified by Customs that may explain why a high-value illicit drug shipment could transit through Customs-controlled areas without detection?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised by the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) that no Customs resourcing or capability limitations have been identified in Customs-controlled areas. For the Member’s awareness, a Customs Controlled Area is a private premises which is licensed as a secure, monitored area where Customs can conduct its activities, rather than facilities operated by Customs.
