29647 (2026). Dan Rosewarne to the Minister of Police: Has the Firearms Safety Authority undertaken any assessment of the ease with which any push-button or lever-release rifle imported since 1 January 2023 could be converted to self-loading operation; if so, what was the outcome of that assessment?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that the Firearms Safety Authority undertook an assessment of one brand of push button firearm to determine whether it could be readily modified to operate as a semi-automatic or fully automatic firearm. The assessment found that the firearm could not able to be modified in this way, and it was therefore approved as a non-prohibited firearm.
