Hon Mark Mitchell: Individual Hardship Fund investment was a component of the Covid Recovery Package which developed two pilot initiatives, originally approved by the Sport NZ Board in October 2020. (Active Me / Kia Tū and Te Kīwai) Funding for Active Me / Kia Tū is as follows: 2021: Investment of $2,151,376 for the initial Pilot – testing the approach in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland and Tai Tokerau/Northland 2022: Additional $800,000 was invested as part of the Delta Response package and the associated increased demand in the Auckland/ Northland region for support. 2023 : Following successful evaluation on the initial part of this pilot - Additional investment of $5,546,000 to test the scalability and expand nationally, (This was sought and approved by the Sport NZ board in Sept 2022, with Ministerial sign off approved in November 2022).
