29519 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Housing: What measures is he taking to ensure current housing and infrastructure policies do not worsen intergenerational inequality in homeownership, if any?
Hon Chris Bishop: This Government’s Going for Housing Growth policy focuses on the fundamentals that have led to unaffordable housing for New Zealanders. It involves freeing up land for development and removing unnecessary planning barriers, improving infrastructure funding and financing, and providing incentives for communities and councils to support growth.
This will improve our economy, increase productivity, improve intergenerational equity, and decrease material hardship.
