29516 (2026). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Tertiary Education: Has the Vote Tertiary Education total appropriation increased or decreased in Budget 2026 compared to Budget 2025, if so, by what dollar amount?

Hon Penny Simmonds: Budget 2026 provided $367.302 million in funding over the forecast period to Vote Tertiary Education. In comparison, Budget 2025 provided $398.284 million in funding over the forecast period for Vote Tertiary Education. There is a net decrease in new spending between Budget 2025 and Budget 2026 of $30.982 million. The final budgeted total annual appropriations and forecast permanent appropriations total for Vote Tertiary Education has decreased by $185.159 million from 2025/26 to 2026/27.
