29488 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Climate Change: What advice, if any, did the Minister receive on the impacts of discontinuing Māori Climate Platform funding on communities at higher risk of climate‑related hazards?

Hon Simon Watts: The Māori Climate Platform programme was reset in 2024 to be delivered with time-limited funding and is scheduled to end on 30 June 2027. The Ministry for the Environment continues to implement the existing programme, and regional vulnerability to climate-related hazards has informed the prioritisation of funded projects. No specific advice has been provided on the impacts of discontinuing the programme. Officials are exploring options to continue to fund the programme beyond 30 June 2027.
