29485 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Transport: Further to WPQ 28045, What steps, if any, has the Minister taken to ensure he is adequately informed about high‑risk State Highway corridors such as the Desert Road?

Hon Chris Bishop: I receive regular briefings from NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) on the delivery of the Government’s transport priorities, including the maintenance, operation and improvement of the state highway network. NZTA is responsible for assessing safety risks on state highways and determining the appropriate safety interventions, including infrastructure improvements, within available funding and the priorities set through the GPS and the NLTP.
