29475 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: What is the reason for the reduction in the appropriation for Services from the Criminal Cases Review Commission from $5,191,000 to $4,854,000?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: In response to the challenging fiscal environment, the Government is aiming to reduce Crown expenditure as a proportion of the overall economy. Like many organisations, the Criminal Cases Review Commission has been asked to find savings in a tight fiscal environment. The work of the Commission in identifying and reviewing potential miscarriages of justice remains important.
