29474 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: What is the reason for the reduction in the appropriation for Services from the Human Rights Commission from $13,829,000 to $12,446,000?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: In response to the challenging fiscal environment the Government is aiming to reduce Crown expenditure as a proportion of the overall economy. Like many organisations, the Human Rights Commission has been asked to find savings in a tight fiscal environment. The work of the Commission in promoting and protecting the human rights of all people in New Zealand remains important.
