29473 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Rail: What is the estimated total cost of installing ‘Look for Trains’ signs at all railway level crossings currently controlled only by Stop or Give Way signs across New Zealand?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: KiwiRail advise there are around 780 public level crossings with Give Way or Stop signs, with around 20% of those having additional 'Look for Trains' signs. Exact figures are not available, but KiwiRail estimates the cost would be less than $100,000.
