29469 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Rail: Will the Government consider a policy to systematically replace Give Way signs with Stop signs at railway level crossings, in line with the WSP study’s recommendation, and if not, why not?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: KiwiRail advise it is considering the report's recommendations as part of its network programme and has not made any decisions. In some instances, Give Way signs are necessary at level crossings where a stop sign would result in a long vehicle fouling the State Highway.
