29458 (2023). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: What actions, if any, does the Minister intend to take to progress introducing an exit exam for primary and intermediate teaching graduates to demonstrate expertise in reading, writing, maths, and science instruction, and require existing teachers to undertake professional development in teaching the basics as outlined in the National Party’s ‘Teaching the Basics Brilliantly Policy Document?’

Hon Erica Stanford: The member can find my policy objectives for this term in the Speech from the Throne and the National Party Manifesto and agreements between the National Party and its coalition partners. I have received briefings from the Ministry of Education on the education portfolio and I am looking forward to receiving further briefings from officials.
