Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: What actions, if any, does the Minister intend to take to progress requiring primary and intermediate teaching graduates to pass an exit exam demonstrating expertise in reading, writing, maths, and science teaching in order to register as a teacher, as outlined in the National Party’s ‘Teaching the Basics Brilliantly Policy Document?’

Hon Erica Stanford: The member can find my policy objectives for this term in the Speech from the Throne and the National Party Manifesto and agreements between the National Party and its coalition partners. I have received briefings from the Ministry of Education on the education portfolio and I am looking forward to receiving further briefings from officials.
