29432 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Have any applications to form new Primary Health Organisations (PHOs) been received by Health NZ since 1 January 2025 and if so, how many?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that Health New Zealand has received two formal applications to form new Primary Health Organisations since 1 January 2025. I am further advised that a decision on one application was announced on 29 May 2025. The other application is currently under active consideration by Health New Zealand, with a continued focus on ensuring any changes support our focus on putting patients first and ensuring all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare. Additionally, as the Member will be aware, the National Hauora Coalition has also been approved to operate in the Kapiti area of Wellington.
