Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: How has NZ Customs Service adjusted its operations, if at all, in response to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) from the US Department of Justice's November 2024 report on increased transnational cartel presence and impact in New Zealand?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) regularly adjusts its operations based upon border interceptions and intelligence received from domestic and international partners. I am also advised that to protect operational security and sensitive investigative activities, Customs is unable to provide information relating to its response to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration’s report on increased transnational cartel presence in New Zealand.
