29287 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Climate Change: Has the Minister received any advice that the Government's coalition agreements or policies are inconsistent with meeting our first or second Emissions Budget?

Hon Simon Watts: I have not received advice that the Government’s coalition agreements or policies are inconsistent with meeting our first or second emissions budgets. The Government’s official projections of expected emissions reductions, available online, show that New Zealand is expected to stay within the first emissions budget from 2022 to 2025. I am currently preparing the next emissions reduction plan, which will set out the policies and strategies for meeting the second emissions budget, from 2026 to 2030. The Government will consult on this plan later this year.
