29178 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Prime Minister: What, if any, affect will the restructuring of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet have on operations and staffing of the National Emergency Management Agency?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the responsible Minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is a departmental agency hosted by the DPMC. I am advised from officials in DPMC that the Future of DPMC will have no impact on New Zealand's emergency preparedness and response capabilities including NEMA functions and responsibilities.
