29126 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How was the figure of $14.54 million, announced on 17 June 2026 as additional support over the next year for people sleeping rough, determined, and what assessment of need informed it?
Hon Chris Bishop: An additional $14.54 million over the next year for support services to help people sleeping rough was provided to allow for the continuance of selected short-term actions in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch and the expansion into other areas where services could be rapidly stood up. Our understand of need was based on insights gathered during the production of the March 2026 Homelessness Insights Report and local and provider insights.
