29125 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many people experiencing homelessness does the Government estimate the additional $14.54 million for support services announced on 17 June 2026 will assist over the next year?

Hon Chris Bishop: While it is difficult to estimate the number of people experiencing homelessness who will be supported by this additional investment, the locally led short-term actions announced late last year have made a difference. For example, between November 2025 and January 2026, 177 people entered a new transitional housing pilot programme in Auckland and Hamilton, and housing assistance centres delivered more than 1,500 support activities.
