29116 (2025). Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: How often are Customs' red flag indicators and risk profiles updated to reflect changing smuggling methodologies?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) regularly reviews its risk profiles and red flags for smuggling methodologies based upon border interceptions and intelligence received from domestic and international partners. This includes regular reviews of Customs onshore and offshore border interceptions to detect other potential risks and emerging trends that may be used to identify further unknown risk consignments.
