29105 (2025). Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: How many shipping containers cleared by Customs each year were later found to have contained undeclared or illicit items after release?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) is aware of instances where containers have cleared Customs and are later found to have contained undeclared or illicit items. However there is no way for this to be searched for in Customs’ system due to the way in which this information is recorded.
