Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister for Ethnic Communities: What specific strategies or policy advice, if any, has the Minister developed to prepare the government and public service for the projected growth of ethnic populations to approximately 25% of New Zealand's total population by 2035, as indicated by the 2023 Census?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised by the Ministry for Ethnic Communities that demographic data from the 2023 census is reflected in its Ethnic Evidence report. I have asked the Ministry to build on the report and explore where more analysis or data is required to understand the needs of or opportunities for ethnic communities.
