29079 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: What does the Government attribute the increase in the proportion of households entering transitional housing because they were living without shelter, recorded in the Homelessness Insights report to 31 March 2026 as rising from 19.0 percent in March 2025 to 23.5 percent in March 2026, to?
Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the percentage of households entering transitional housing because they were living without shelter varies over time and there is no single factor influencing the change over the last year. The monthly average proportion of entries without shelter between March 25 and March 26 was 22.2%, with March 25 lower than that average and March 26 being higher than that average; monthly variance is normal.
