29066 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: When will the Government commence the co-design work with claimants on a new definition of homelessness recommended by the Waitangi Tribunal in its Stage One report on Māori homelessness, as the Homelessness Insights report to 31 March 2026 records this work has not yet commenced?
Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised the definition of homelessness will be reviewed, in partnership with iwi Māori, data experts, and stakeholders.
The Homeless and Transient Populations Data Advisory Group will support this review.
This group, hosted by Stats NZ working closely with HUD, is currently being established. The process for how the group will work with the Wai 2750 claimants is still to be mapped out.
